You CAN Take it with you.

John 12:20-33
Jesus answered [the Greeks who came to see him], “And the hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Those who love their life will lose it, and those who hate their life in this world will keep it for eternal life. Whoever serves me must follow me, and where I am, there will my servant be also. Whoever serves me, the Father will honor.”
I believe this parable has been a little misconstrued in the telling. I believe what Jesus is essentially trying to communicate is that while we are in the body, there is an appearance that we are a presence unto ourselves for our connection with the all, while immutable, is largely inconceivable. We won’t be truly awakened until we die, unless we happen to achieve Christhood in this life, which is a bit dubious for most of us. As we die, our connection with the All will become very, very real to us, and we will know that we are more than just a body, more than just who we think we are. We will become who God thinks we are in full. Now, no one who hates their life wants that to continue into the afterlife, so that’s where I believe things were a little misconstrued.
I think essentially what Jesus is getting at is that there is so much more beyond all this, and we would do well to remember this in our daily dealings. God wants us to be happy, but we are not to cling to life as an act of desperation. It is best handled if we wear it as a light cloak, remembering at all times our divine nature; for if we desire power and abundance on the horizontal plane, we need to cultivate the vertical, meaning God and the Christ. We must be willing to give up the shell even before we die if we are to awaken to a higher consciousness. We must invest in who we are essentially, and that is a divine child of God. If we serve Christ, we are serving love, and there will be a great reward for those who do so in the afterlife. Because the only thing that you can take with you is your experiences of love here on the earthly plane. All the rest falls away as you make your way closer to God. Just as impurities drop from water as it becomes steam and evaporates, so too will our impurities drop, meaning our sins and character defects, as we rise to heaven. So let us invest in that which is truly portable in the greatest sense. And that is love. Go Love!
