Transcending Death
APR 2026
Mark 16:1-8
As [Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salomé] entered the tomb, they saw a young man, dressed in a white robe, sitting on the right side; and they were alarmed. But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you.” So they went out and fled from the tomb, for terror and amazement had seized them; and they said nothing to anyone, for they were afraid.
In today’s passage, the women are made aware of the wonderful news that Jesus has overcome the transition we call death and transcended it. The resurrection is the most glorious news of the Bible, for with it, Jesus linked heaven and earth, allowing the two to one day rejoin and merge into one again. This is a day worth celebrating. Because he manifested the Christ consciousness so fully, Jesus was able to supersede the finality of death in a demonstrable way. Through Jesus’ promise fulfilled, heaven is ours. Remember always, the Christ in you cannot be crucified. That is the central message here. It is a divine gift given to us all, simply because we are part of the Christ mind in the most fundamental and profound way. Jesus’ divinity allowed him to manifest the resurrection in physical terms, and to date, he alone has accomplished this. But bear in mind that this gift carries with it a responsibility to one another, for if one survives death, we all do. Not even death can silence the glory of the Christ which we all inherently possess. Let this be a comfort to you, for the message inherent in it is that we are not under the laws of man, but more beholden to the laws of God, which are immutable; and part of this divine law is our continuation beyond the physical realm. God’s laws are the laws that we must adhere to, for we are all children of God. No one is exempt from this. Remember this the next time you would divorce yourself from another in thought, word, or deed; for we are all irrevocably bound together in the divine; so let’s treat each other with the love and respect and honor we deserve, that we might live in peace everlasting. Go Love!
